TUHRIAI

Character

Tuhriai is a mechanic with an enhanced body in a dystopian world.

For this character i chose a more realistic / semi-realistic style. I looked more into shaders to achieve realistic skin and tried different approaches to how to create realistic hair.

This character is still in the beginning stages.

Ki

Player character

Ki is the player character in my game "LOST SIGHT - Reclaiming perfection".

The Game

Backstory

“One day I just started... existing. I remember waking up in a forest. And I remember not remembering anything. I didn’t even know my own name. So when I saw this stone around my neck with the word “Ki” on it, I figured this must be it. I started to look for someone, anyone and was relieved when I began to hear voices. It meant that I wasn’t alone.

I thought that I'd maybe even find someone who would recognize me. When I finally found people they weren’t as welcoming as I’d hoped. They were afraid of me, asking what was wrong with me and telling me to go away. At first I didn’t understand why, but I quickly realized that they weren’t actually speaking to me. I wasn't hearing they're words.

I was hearing their thoughts.

I also noticed that I looked different. I wasn't like everyone. All I wanted was to

know who I am. Where I came from. Why I can hear everyone’s voices when they

aren't artually speaking. But no one would talk to me. - So I was left alone, with all

those scared and angry voices drowning me. All day long.

I gave up on trying to reach them, when they started calling me "demon"... "devil", and I

went back to the only place I could think of that didn’t reject me... The forest I woke up in.

I started building the treehouse that is now my home and even befriended some of

the animals. And for a long time, I think... I was actually what you would call “happy”.

But months turned into years and years turned into decades. It’s been almost 50

years and I’ve come to hate the isolation. It’s like I’ve traded one hell for another.

But I don’t know what to do... The few times that I’ve tried to go back it was even

worse than before, because unlike everyone else I hadn’t changed. I didn’t age.

And it terrified them.”

A character everyone can relate to

A character everyone can relate to

Ki represents everyone - people with all kinds of different insecurities. That's why she isn't just a normal person with one such insecurity, but a being that is not human. Her not being human and therefore being different from everyone else is her insecurity, because "being different" from what's "normal" or expected is the base of all insecurities.

I decided to give Ki a child-like appearence because we all either are, or used to be children at some point in our life. We can all relate to being young and innocent.

Umpoloko

I wanted the Umpoloko to be a harmless seeming creature tha you wouldn't be afraid of if you stumbled across it. A creature you wouldn't be surpeised of seeing it in nature. With that in mind I designed it almost looking like it could be a part of nature itself.

One thing learned helps with figuring

out if a character design works is to

see it in an environment. For this alien

I chose a somewhat surreal setting.

Medusa

Statue

I created this statue based on the story behind medusa and wanted to express the pain she must have felt.

Sculpture

I sculpted the model in blender and later did the texturing

in substance painter.

ONI

Inspiration

I looked into the mythology behind Onis and how they're born. I took some of the oni masks I found as inspiration and wanted to make my own

Design

I tried to create a unique design while still keeping the

style and aesthetic of traditional japanese masks

seer

Copy Paste
from Figma

I made this character because I had only ever made human characters and wanted to try something new

Process

I first sculpted the character and then did a retopology to create a uv map and properly texture paint the character in substance painter.
